BRIDGEGOOD Information

BRIDGEGOOD expands access to design and technology careers for first-generation college students and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color creatives. Based in Oakland, California, BRIDGEGOOD is an award-winning Bay Area nonprofit advancing economic mobility, tech equity, and inclusive workforce development through pathways into design (UX, UI, product). Since 2009, BRIDGEGOOD has earned nearly two decades of community trust and built a proven track record by creating equitable, tuition-free pathways into design and technology for talent too often excluded from the innovation economy. At the center of this work is BRIDGEGOOD’s design studio in Jack London Square, a welcoming, community-based hub accessible by BART and regional transit. The studio offers a consistent place for learning, one-on-one support, real-world project work, and belonging in the heart of the Bay Area. Since 2009, BRIDGEGOOD has served more than 36,000 learners and helped launch 900+ graduates into design and tech roles. Its core programs include the UX Design Apprenticeship, Career Incubator, Inspire Oakland, and Community Labs, each designed to expand access to industry-aligned skills, practical experience, and the social capital needed to persist and thrive. While the tech industry is often concentrated in Silicon Valley, many BRIDGEGOOD graduates go on to apply their skills in service of community, strengthening nonprofits, mission-driven organizations, and small businesses. In 2025, BRIDGEGOOD expanded this work through Cybersecurity and AI for Social Good, a tuition-free initiative helping learners build emerging technical skills, strengthen digital safety knowledge, and engage innovation through a lens of responsibility, community impact, and equity. BRIDGEGOOD serves a community that is 80% first-generation, 75% low-income, and 95% Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.
