Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is an agency within the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). DSHS has eleven (11) regions to cover the state of Texas. DSHS has also been commissioned as the lead agency within HHSC enterprise for Emergency Preparedness. We build highways, provide drivers licenses, protect our children and vulnerable populations, create jobs, connect Hoosiers to job opportunities, maintain state parks, train law enforcement officers, and we run museums and hospitals. We also provide unemployment insurance, disability, and workers compensation, among countless other services.
