BRIC is currently focused on computerised estimating systems for crash repair, the opaque nature of how these calculations are made and what repair tasks are or are not included in these calculations. BRIC has also published a submission to the "Bodyshop Industry Estimating Systems Transparency White Paper" as its response to an industry initiative that it broadly welcomes. Indeed, Matthew Carrington, CEO of the RMI, publicly stated that he did not approve of BRIC's methods. Those supporting BRIC took this as a substantial compliment as, whatever those methods are, they have delivered results. Quite simply there are now BRIC supporters in many places all working towards a better working environment in the body repair market. BRIC is about researching the market place and then placing the material it has found before those who should then act on it. So BRIC is clearly a pressure group and we are not a trade association. BRIC will push its agenda into places where, hitherto, trade associations have not gone and this is why BRIC is at times seen as confrontational. However, BRIC is confrontational only in as much as it may put real evidence on the table that some people would rather not see. Unfortunately, not everyone likes to hear an unpalatable message, however well presented and, for this reason, we do have to place our information either right in front of the intended recipients or in front of the appropriate part of government in order to force change in the market place.
