Having grown up across the river from New Hope, Pennsylvania, Bret has long drawn inspiration from The New Hope School of studio furniture makers, such as Phillip Lloyd Powell and Paul Evans. He even has Powells table saw and a number of his tools in his workshop! But its their bold, self-sufficient attitudes that inspire him most. Brets workhis life, reallyis driven by curiosity and always has been. He spent his formative years working in neighborhood kitchens and antique car shops where he was exposed to the industrial world. He learned how to restore motorcycles, metal fabrication, machinery, finishes and leatherwork. Currently Bret Cavanaugh Modern Design focuses on Construction, Design Build and custom furniture.
