Brat Haus Information

Brat Haus is the brainchild of father and son combination Steve and Ben Crick. Steve, a butcher for 33 years, had perfected a range of sausage recipes over this time using prime pork and veal and adapting traditional European recipes to create a delicious range of bratwurst, knackwursts and kranskis. After a '"research" trip to Germany, Steve decided to develop the foot-long Grilled Bratwurst - common in Germany but a first in Australia. These foot long sausages were an instant hit and Steve and Ben have now been selling them at street markets and festivals around the Brisbane area for over 8 years. This success led to discussions about opening a bricks and mortar store somewhere in Brisbane offering the sausages alongside delicious German biers. After lengthy discussions it was decided to open a store at Caxton Street in Brisbane - a popular night time destination and home to Suncorp Stadium - Brisbane's premier sporting venue. Brat Haus Express at Caxton Street opened its doors in late 2012 offering Steve's delicious range of sausages on freshly baked bread rolls. Patrons of the nearby Suncorp Stadium soon discovered the shop and it has become an institution for football and soccer fans seeking a meal before and after matches. The Caxton store can easily be recognised on game days by the large queue extending out the front door and down the street. The success of the Caxton St store led the Brat Haus crew to seek another location in Brisbane and the team settled on a shop at 354 Brunswick Street Fortitude Valley - one of Brisbane's busiest entertainment precincts. This store was opened in December 2013 and offers an extended menu for restaurant diners in addition to the already well-known sausages. This shop also offers Brisbane's finest range of imported German bottled and tap biers and is steadily becoming a popular destination for food and bier lovers alike.
