Boost Technology was founded in 1998 when Boost's founders attended the Bridge Benefit Concert to benefit the Bridge School. This remarkable school was founded to ensure that children with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative and alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications. One of Boost's founders worked for a company that had just developed a new technology that allowed a novel type of patented small and accurate gyroscope to communicate wirelessly with a computer via a new kind of Radio (RF) technology. As we were talking, a video started playing showing the extraordinary work of the Bridge School. In this video, a little girl was trying to use a computer; however, limitations in the computer input device she was using made this an extremely difficult process. As we watched her struggle with this most basic of human needs - the desire to communicate one's thoughts - we suddenly turned to each other and said, "we can use this new technology to make that little girl's life better" and Boost Technology was born.
