Founded in 1975 in Sydney Australia by Sara and Inze BONT, the company invented the modern speed skate. Bont was the first company to use materials like carbone fiber, kevlar and fiberglass, as well as thermoplastics, and velcro. Bont invented heat moldable boots, and was the first company to make skates where the blade and the frame could be adjusted on the boot. Bont was also the first company to use lace covers, no void frames, and aerodynamic skates.
