We have developed a novel chemical process for recycling lithium-ion batteries—completely distinct from existing technologies, such as hydrometallurgy—that is low cost and environmentally friendly. Coined “aluminometallurgy,” based on low-cost starting reagents, no acidic leaching is performed and no black mass is required. Our approach is novel and has advantages over state-of-the-art technologies. Founded by two professors of chemical engineering, we are a company whose technology is rooted in scientific rigor, engineering precision, and innovation.
