Engineering Plus, Inc . and its Predecessor firms have continuously offered engineering and surveying service in Meridian since 1929. The story begins in 1929 when Mr. L.B. Brandon opened a consulting engineering and surveying service in Meridian and served as County Engineer for Kemper, Lauderdale and Winston Counties. n 1965 Mr. J.W. Kemp began working for Mr. Brandon and when Mr. Brandon retired, Mr. Kemp purchased the firm and became County Engineer for Kemper, Lauderdale and Winston Counties. Under Mr. Kemp's supervision, the firm became County Engineer for Noxubee County, expanding into water and wastewater areas, and added asphalt, concrete and soils testing services. In 1980, the firm was incorporated. Terrell Temple, who joined the firm in 1977, became a principal. Since 1980, the firm has continued to provide quality engineering services and expanded into the area of landscape architecture. Adding personnel in this field improved the firm's capabilities in planning, site development and recreation. In 1985, Mr. Kemp was elected Mayor of the City of Meridian and relinquished operating control to Mr. Temple, At that time, Richard Dixon joined the firm bringing with him over 20 years of engineering experience varying from owning a consulting firm to serving as public works director for the City of Greenville, Mississippi. In private practice, Mr. Dixon served as an environmental engineer designing water and wastewater treatment systems. As Greenville's City Engineer, he designed the city's solid waste landfill and solid waste distribution center. In 1987, Mr. Temple purchased the company from Mr. Kemp and changed the name of the firm to Engineering Plus, Inc. The firm has continued to offer and provide quality engineering services in the areas of environmental engineering, general civil engineering, roadway and site design, geotechnical engineering, quality control and materials testing, landscape architecture and surveying.
