The Mission of the Olentangy Local School District is to facilitate maximum learning for every student. We do this by focusing on key areas including: Students and Stakeholders, Resource Stewardship, and Learning and Organizational Development.
• Students and Stakeholders: In order to achieve our Mission, we must alleviate barriers to learning, promote a culture of inclusive excellence and expand community engagement and relationships through partnerships and committees.
• Resource Stewardship: As the 7th largest district in the state, it is of utmost importance that we maximize investments and revenue, manage assets wisely and model fiscal responsibility and transparency.
• Learning and Organizational Development: We must foster leadership development and mastery of learning at every level—teachers and students—to achieve our vision to be the recognized leader for high performance and efficiency in education.
The District is highly regarded statewide for its academic excellence. We are consistently in the top rankings of US News and World Report, our four-year graduation rate is 98.3% and we received an “A” on gap closing on the State Report Card.
Our students have the ability to participate in 25 AP courses, robust elective offerings, gifted services for qualified students grades 3-12 and a comprehensive professional development program. Extracurricular programs—from athletics to the arts—are also recognized for achievement.
Our district encompasses 95 square miles, seven townships, five cities and two counties. More than 21,000 students attend our schools, making our population larger than Miami University. We employ 2,500 people and operate 26 schools; 4 high schools, 5 middle schools, and 15 elementary schools. We also support OASIS, Olentangy Academy and Olentangy Preschool. In 2018, Columbus CEO magazine named Olentangy Local School District one of the Top Places to Work.
The Pickerington Local School District (PLSD) is located 25 miles southeast of downtown Columbus. The school district serves approximately 10,600 students, pre-school through twelfth grade and covers an area approximately 20 square miles, including the City of Pickerington, Violet Township and neighborhoods within a small portion of the City of Columbus.
PLSD features 15 school buildings, which includes seven elementary schools (grades K-4), three middle school schools (grades 5 & 6), two junior high schools (grades 7 & 8), two high schools (grades 9 - 12) and one community school (grades 9 - 12).
PLSD has set a goal to become one of the state’s top-performing school districts and it continues to build a legacy as one of Ohio’s most respected school districts. All of the district’s schools have earned an respectable ratings on their State of Ohio Report Cards, and the district has earned “Excellent” or “Excellent with Distinction” for six years. In addition to providing challenging academic offerings for all students, PLSD prides itself on the wide array of opportunities for students to benefit from team and personal success, including athletics, performing arts, and club activities. Nearly 70% of the district’s high school students belong to a club or organization, and approximately 50% of the students also participate in athletics or the performing arts.
One of the primary measures of a school district’s success is how well students are prepared for life after graduating high school. Eighty percent of the district’s graduates attend college, with seventy-five percent of those attending four-year colleges or universities, including some of the nation’s most prestigious institutions.
Our mission is to provide all children an efficient and nurturing educational environment which creates life-long learners who are socially responsible citizens. We believe children are our primary focus.
