Blockchain Technology Group (Blocktech Group) has been working since 2014 on research and development on Open Index Protocol and it's first application, Alexandria. Open Index Protocol (OIP) is a specification for a worldwide database for decentralized publishing, distribution and payments. OIP uses distributed networking and peer-to-peer technology to Alexandria is a web application to search and browse everything published to the Open Index. It was the first application to use Open Index Protocol and was built by the OIP team alongside the specification. The application was named as an homage to the ancient Library of Alexandria, a tragic example of the problem with centralization. Web information architecture in 2017 is similarly vulnerable because it relies on centralized hubs to store and distribute information. Because OIP uses distributed networks to eliminate central points of failure, applications like Alexandria can offer transparent access to any digital content, and resist censorship and information access entropy.
