BlockByte is Australia’s specialist estate planning and self-custody advisory practice for digital assets, built with a small but senior team with deep experience in digital assets and cyber security. Digital assets are uniquely fragile when it comes to succession planning – keys are lost, executors are locked out, and conventional wills rarely account for self-custody crypto recovery. BlockByte closes that gap by working alongside clients and estate planning lawyers to provide the following services for digital assets: - Self-custody support – design and setup of self-custody architecture, multi-signature configuration, process mapping and documentation - Estate planning – development of critical documentation (registers, valuation, digital asset directives, solicitor briefing pack, executor briefs and technical documentation) to ensure your crypto survives you upon death - Valuations – as required at date of death or on demand, to satisfy SMSF audit and ATO requirements during will activation - Annual reviews – keeping registers, valuations and instructions current across your lifetime as holdings and circumstances change - Estate activation – guiding executors and beneficiaries through secure, orderly transfer or realisation of assets (e.g. liquidations, in-specie transfers) and tax reporting Importantly, BlockByte provides advisory services – we do not hold client keys or operate a custody platform. Our role is to work alongside clients, custodians and legal teams to design, document, and steward the lifecycle of digital asset holdings.
