The lumber that does not meet our Furniture, Premium or Landscape Grade standards are used for agricultural and industrial products. Excess fibre and sawdust are used as biomass for bioenergy. The Rainforest Alliance™ lists Black Locust among the most preferred alternatives vs. tropical hardwoods for outdoor applications. The harvesting of rainforest tropical hardwoods is unsustainable. Black Locust / Robinia Pseudoacacia, serves as an alternative to pressure-treated lumber., which is treated with a wide variety of Red Listed chemicals in accordance with The Living Future Institute. Therefore, no further enhancements or treatments are required for the longevity of the Black Locust.
