For over 55 years, Black Hawk Memorial Company has provided comfort, solace and unique, customized memorials to our fellow Iowans. Founded in 1946 by Harry Verly and joined later by his brother Elmer, the Black Hawk Memorial Company grew to what it is today by its reputation of expertise, exceptional quality, fair prices and honest management. In 1972, Elmer sold the company to his son and daughter-in-law, John and Deb Verly. In 1999, the Verlys sold the business to a long-time employee, Lance Banwart. Continuing in the strong tradition of excellence, Lance and his wife Christy manage the business on the principles of its founders: personal attention and quality products. Black Hawk Memorial Company has the largest inventory of monuments in Northeast Iowa, and their stone craftsmen design and manufacture the memorials right on the premises. They are experienced in guiding you in making the best decision based on a wide range of factors. We have only one high standard of service for our customers.
