Bison Express Information

Bison Express is a membership-based organization formed under the charter of Howard University, to encourage and facilitate financial support of Howard University's athletics, marching band, and cheerleaders in alignment with the mission of Howard University, and the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Howard University student-athletes compete at the highest level of collegiate athletics: NCAA Division 1. Howard University is home to 19 intercollegiate athletic teams, including the only men’s and women’s Lacrosse and Swimming teams in the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference (MEAC). At Howard, winning extends to the total development of student-athletes for success both on and off the field. The Bison total graduation rate is over 70% and 50% of its 350 student-athletes maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above. Bison Express is an exempt entity under Internal Revenue Service code 501(c)(3). Bison Express is not a separately incorporated entity. In order to use the name of Howard University and receive benefits thereof, neither Bison Express nor any of its affiliated booster clubs can be incorporated or seek tax exempt 501(c)(3) status separately.
