Born in 1898 to serve the skills needs of the 2nd industrial revolution, the University of East London is over half way through of its transformational 10-year Vision 2028 strategic plan led by our Vice-Chancellor & President, Professor Amanda Broderick, to advance Industry 4.0 careers-1st education. We have a clear route-map to provide a springboard for the jobs and opportunities of the future; drive diversity in the 4.0 talent pipeline - working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found; and to create an inclusive and sustainable, green future.
The University of East London is one of the most diverse and vibrant universities in the global capital. Our pioneering and forward-thinking vision is making a positive and significant impact to the communities we serve, inspiring both our staff and students to reach their full potential.
At London Metropolitan University we place students at the centre of everything we do. We’re constantly reviewing our courses to respond to the demands of the job market and give you a diverse choice. We offer most of our courses on both a full-time and part-time basis, and we’re committed to providing you with the best possible support and resources.
Our dedicated careers and employability team will support and advise you both during and after your studies. We run a mentoring scheme, which can put you in touch with a professional from your chosen sector, as well as a graduate internship scheme, which offers around 30 paid internships each year. Many courses include work placement modules that count towards your final degree and many are accredited by professional bodies, which will give your qualification extra weight.
Our facilities include a £30 million Science Centre, a state-of-the-art mock courtroom and newsroom, specialist art and design workshops, and some of London’s most advanced computer labs. Continued investment in IT facilities sees the installation of new PCs, for example in our Holloway Road Learning Centre, which also hosts a world-renowned research library. We’re dedicated to supporting you throughout your studies. Our Student Services department is accredited by Matrix and has been awarded the Buttle Quality Mark for Care Leavers.
We’re currently investing millions of pounds in creating a single campus in Islington, which is developing a more connected community. We have strong links with the local area and are committed to environmental sustainability, installing LED lights, solar panels and energy-efficient air conditioning. As a result of this effort we’ve been named England’s number-one university for carbon reduction.
Students’ Union UCL is an organisation that exists to make more happen. We are the representative body for University College London’s (UCL) students, one of the most diverse student communities in the world. UCL students have the potential to do anything, and the Union plays an essential role in helping them to achieve things they may have never thought possible. As a charity we employ over 80 career staff and deliver a wide range of services and representative functions for students.
We work in partnership with UCL towards a fantastic experience for all our 48,000 students and to ensure that university life enables them to develop the skills, experience and confidence to become the leaders of the future.
Our Finance team works to ensure that the Students’ Union is a financially sustainable and growing organisation. It aims to support the growth of income and efficient use of resources to ensure departments and student groups are well resourced and able to deliver on our mission. The team plays an essential role in our aim to become one of the best students’ unions in the UK and the world, and the best possible students’ union for our 48,000+ members.
