BirdLab is a multidisciplinary research group based at the University of Minho, focused on developing robotic and computational technologies to better understand complex biological systems such as human locomotion. Our mission is to create adaptive, intelligent solutions that drive innovation in the health sciences. We work on a wide range of projects, including the development of orthoses and prosthetics, assistive technologies for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, intelligent walkers for the rehabilitation of people with ataxia, and computer-assisted surgical systems. Our team brings together master’s and doctoral students, as well as researchers from diverse fields such as biomedical engineering, computer engineering, computer sciences, and electronic engineering. At BirdLab, we value collaboration, scientific excellence, and the translation of research into real-world impact in healthcare.
