Biografilm Festival Information

Since 2005, in wonderful Bologna at the beginning of summer, Biografilm Festival has offered an enthusiastic public - now over 120,000 people - the best of recently produced international documentaries and more. Quality cinema premieres, biographies and life stories in general, in docs and fiction films are at the core of the festival program. Special attention is paid to the promotion of new talents, especially female ones. Contemporaneity, in its complexity, is investigated starting from life stories: questions and answers on the crucial issues of today arise from the human experience. New perspectives on current social processes emerge through people and their journeys around the world. Every year in June, for ten days, the festival offers around 100 films and fills Bologna with screenings, multidisciplinary events, meetings in many cinemas and places in the city and its surroundings. The 2020 edition was mainly online, paving the way for future editions in which the possibility of remote access to films and meetings will complement the traditional festival in its original physical environment. Bio to B | Doc & Biopic Business Meeting is the annual appointment that Biografilm dedicates to business-to-business networking between professionals in the audiovisual industry. The goal is to promote and support European documentary productions.
