BIOFER NV Information

BIOFER, an industrial 2MW CHP biogas plant Biofer is an industrial CHP (‘combined heat and power’) 2 MW biogas plant where a procedure is being developed to process manure and organic biological waste materials (OBW) in combination with the production of green energy. At this moment Biofer NV has all the advantages to become a model company in Flanders, Belgium. The applied process is called ‘anaerobic digestion’, which is an oxygen free digestion of organic waste materials with the extraction of methane gas (or biogas) as a result. Biofer is currently licensed to digest 30 000 tons of manure and 30 000 tons of organic biological waste materials. The produced biogas is then converted into electricity and heat through the use of combined heat and power engines. This electricity is injected into the high-tension network as renewable energy, while the produced heat can conveniently be applied for the drying process. The remnants that remain after digestion are being dewatered and converted into dry solids that can be sold as soil improvers.
