BIOEF Information

The Foundation constitutes a framework for collaboration, cooperation and communication between the different sectors involved in health research and innovation at different regional, state and international levels. BIOEF helps to enhandce health and intersectoral programs and policies, to provide greater competitiveness and quality to the Health System, and to contribute to the generation of wealth and socio-economic development of the Basque Country. The Basque Foundation for Health Innovation and Research (BIOEF) was created in 2002 by the Department of Health. It is a foundation of the public sector of the Autonomous Community of Euskadi, under the Department of Health of the Basque Government as established in Decree 80/2017, of April 11, which establishes the structure Organic and functional of the Department of Health. The governing body of the Foundation is the Board of Trustees, consisting of representatives of the Basque Government and Osakidetza-Basque Health Service.
