On a sunny afternoon at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Dutch globetrotter Meindert set foot on Australian soil to start a new adventure. While soaking in the vibrant Bondi Beach atmosphere, enjoying the great surf and amazingly outgoing and friendly Australian culture he kept missing one key thing from home in: his bicycle. A challenge was in the making. Determined to introduce the widely acclaimed and oh so typical Dutch way of commuting by bike to the Australian market he joined hands and brains with New Zealand’s finest bicycle/ product engineer Tommie. With a strong focus on aesthetically proven and high quality bikes they launched the first shimmering series of LEKKER Bikes late 2009. A new and unconventional urban bicycle brand was born in Australia. With LEKKER, which in Dutch is widely used to describe anything that is beautiful, cool, tasty or sexy, Meindert and Tommie provide a whole new approach on the urban bicycle while keeping quality and aesthetics in mind. Added with the outspoken Australian way of life LEKKER Bikes embraces all the positives elements of riding your bike around town. LEKKER Bikes stands for that great feeling of freedom while cycling through town, an early morning ride to work, guided by the first rays of sun light or getting excited by heading towards the beach along side your friends.
