Set in the hill valley of Stockbridge Township, Madison County, among working dairy farms and orchards, The Hayden Carruth Museum Library offers a quiet location for reading selections from the poet's extensive poetry library and for contemplating the material details of a writing life sworn to voluntary poverty. Hayden Carruth has been called America's most famous unknown writer. The Museum is dedicated to familiarizing the public with his literary accomplishments in the landscape where his NATIONAL BOOK AWARD winning poems, among other late literary master works, were inspired.
