Big Beyond creatively design and facilitate bespoke volunteer programmes in rural Africa, for individuals and companies looking for high impact opportunities. Our passion is to create a better world through connecting people and establishing a platform where ideas, knowledge, perspectives and time can be easily shared, together in person. We invest people in projects to enable sustainable development and conservation goals in neglected corners of Africa. Big Beyond is a unique opportunity to live and work in beautiful yet fragile parts of Africa and is the chance to truly connect with local people in need of this dedication. We can offer a range of different programme styles, each one linking individual volunteers to relevant roles within a long-term project. Project opportunities are diverse and we work right at the grassroots of communities through a range of creative and innovative activities. It is certainly challenging at times, there are problems to solve, but that’s what we like doing! The environments are very safe, the communities warm and friendly, our teams are passionate and supportive at all times, and the entire experience is incredibly inspiring. Our volunteer programmes are exceptionally enriching and ideal for those individuals around the world willing to bring an open-mind, flexibility, respect for local values and enthusiasm. These truly meaningful experiences are a great opportunity for personal and professional growth. Programmes are also equally enriching for the communities our volunteers work alongside. We currently operate two project sites - in Uganda (right next to the rare mountain gorillas) and Ethiopia (with a fascinating and traditional African tribe).
