Big Beard Films is the production company for filmmaker Sam Wainwright Douglas. Sam directs and produces documentary feature films and edits a spectrum of other documentary, narrative, television and commercial projects. Recently Sam edited and co-produced NO NO: A Dockumentary, a profile of renegade Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis. The film premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and comes out in theaters in September. He edited and co-produced LaDonna Harris: Indian 101, which was Executive Produced by Johnny Depp and will premiere on PBS later in 2014. In 2010 Sam directed Citizen Architect: Samuel Mockbee and the Spirit of the Rural Studio, which broadcast nationally on PBS after premiering at the 2010 South By Southwest Film Festival. Sam also directed the music documentary The Holy Modal Rounders… Bound to Lose and edited an co-produced Along Came Kinky: Texas Jewboy for Governor, a documentary chronicling writer/musician Kinky Friedman's independent run for governor of Texas. As a producer and editor Sam has worked on projects for HBO, PBS, BBC, A&E and The Food Network. Sam is currently producing a feature length documentary on Land Art and editing a narrative film for Director Berndt Mader.
