Bidirectional Display Inc. is a Massachusetts-based fabless design house developing an Image Sensor Panel (ISP) that integrates multiple functions into a single piece of glass or plastic. The ISP can be placed directly on a backlight module or glued on top of a display module for easy integration with existing TFT-LCD and AMOLED displays. Sensor pixels of the ISP are separated with each other to leave transparent regions on the ISP. When integrated with a display module, the sensor pixels are aligned with the black matrix and hidden between display pixels. Therefore, the display quality of the underlying display module is substantially unaffected.
