BGR Public Relations fulfills that need in a big and unique way. Led by veteran TV and print journalist Jeff Birnbaum, BGR PR specializes in offering counsel in a way that sets it apart. Jeff and his team can explain how reporters think – and how they decide what news is from their perspective – in ways that conventional PR people simply cannot. Their writing skills are also exceptional. Jeff is joined by Jo Maney, a veteran leadership aide in Congress who dealt daily with reporters on Capitol Hill and from around the world. Prior to BGR, she worked on Capitol Hill for 14 years, most of them as Communication Director for the powerful House Rules Committee, the traffic cop for all significant legislation that moves through the House of Representatives. She complements Jeff perfectly because she worked from the inside to help develop communications strategies for the major stories that Jeff covered as a reporter, including anti-terrorism, economic stimulation and health care reform. Jeff and Jo work closely with Bill Turenne Jr., who helped organize major media events and outreach at both the White House and the Pentagon, and Sam Amsterdam, BGR’s Head of Digital Communications.
