Beyond The Present Information

Beyond The Present (BTP) helps schools move beyond managing behaviour to understanding what it is communicating. Founded by psychodynamic psychotherapist Daniel Smyth, BTP has grown from more than 20 years of frontline therapeutic work with children and young people experiencing behavioural difficulties, exclusion risk and complex emotional needs. Our CPD-accredited training gives teachers, school leaders, SENCOs and pastoral teams practical psychological insight that can be applied across classrooms, pastoral provision and whole-school culture. We believe that understanding behaviour does not mean excusing it or removing boundaries. It means helping staff recognise the psychological and emotional factors influencing a young person so they can respond earlier, more confidently and more effectively.
