Betty's Bobbin Box, L.L.C Information

Betty's Bobbin Box is a fitting name for our family-owned business that brims with sewing machines, fabric, patterns, notions, classes and a large supply of sewing and quilting books. Our owner, Betty Reneau, along with her daughter, Caren, is mostly self taught although in later years has taken advantage of many professional classes to hone her skills. It all started at the early age of 5 years old. Betty would go up and down her block knocking on the doors of her friends telling them it was time to come to her house and sit under the big tree in front for their "sewing class". She felt all girls should learn to sew as that would make them better wives and mothers. (She still thinks that, by the way, at 84 years of age!) Betty worked for another sewing machine company for about 20 years before opening Betty's Bobbin Box in 1991 as an exclusive Janome Sewing Machine dealer. The idea to open the shop came after she purchased a New Home (Now Janome) Memory Craft 7000 sewing machine. "I thought if I liked it that well, then someone else surely would also", she says. More than 19 years later Betty's still exclusively carries the Janome line of sewing machines, embroidery machines, and sergers. The on-going plan that has become our cornerstone is to keep our store unique, primarily through offering "the cream of the crop" sewing classes. Currently offered as a plethora of classses, ranging from beginning sewing and dressmaking to more specialized classes such as quilting, heirloom sewing, wearable art, automatic embroidery and a multitude of other classes. We are extremely fortunate to have a staff of top-notch instructors conducting our classes. We stress classes on all new techniques, as well as instructional classes for those who purchase machines. Students may bring their own sewing machines or they are welcome to use the Janome machines we provide. We always keep up to date on the latest technology in the sewing industry by attending Janome Insitute, quilt markets, craft markets, etc. For the past 19 years we have attended the Janome Institute without fail to keep abreast of all the new things pertinent to the sewing industry in general and our shop in particular. Betty's Bobbin Box hosts celebrity speakers and classes every year. We specialize in cotton sewing fabric, specialty needles, design software, and a large supply of decorative threads. We continue to expand with new inventory to give teachers and students better equipped classrooms.
