بانک تجارت به عنوان یکی از بزرگترین بانک های تجاری منطقه با طراحی و خلق خدمات نوین و با هدف ارزش آفرینی برای مشتریان به ویژه مشتریان ارزنده، دارای حضوری موثر در بازار های داخلی، منطقه ای و جهانی است. اعتبار و خوشنامی بانک به همراه نیروی انسانی متبحر و نیز توانمندی ارایه خدمات بانکی به ویژه درحوزه تعهدات، این امکان را برای بانک فراهم ساخته تا در چارچوب قوانین پولی و بانکی کشور، ضمن ارتقای سودآوری و تامین منافع تمامی ذینفعان، بتواند نقش موثری در توسعه اقتصادی و پیشرفت نظام بانکداری کشور ایفا کند. بانک تجارت به موجب مصوبه مورخ 1358/7/25 مجمع عمومی بانک ها از ادغام 11 بانک، با سرمایه ای بالغ بر 39 میلیارد ریال تاسیس و در قالب شرکت سهامی خاص با مالکیت دولت جمهوری اسلامی ایران در اداره ثبت شرکت ها به ثبت رسید و سپس در سال 1360 بانک ایران و روس نیز به آن ملحق گردید. تغییر شخصیت حقوقی بانک به سهامی عام و جایگزینی اساسنامه جدید در تاریخ 1387/12/3در اداره ثبت شرکت ها و موسسات غیر تجاری ثبت و آگهی گردید و سهام بانک در تاریخ 1388/2/9 در بورس اوراق بهادار پذیرفته و از تاریخ 1388/2/28در فهرست قیمت های بورس قرار گرفت. Bank Mellat was established on 1979/12/20 by virtue of the resolution dated 1979/9/29 adopted by the General Assembly of Banks and pursuant to the provision of article 17 of the Bill on administering the Banks, with a paid up capital of Rls 33.5 bn as a merger of ten pre-revolution private banks comprising: Tehran, Dariush, Pars, Etebarat Taavoni& Tozie, Iran& Arab, Bein-al-melalie-Iran, Omran, Bimeh Iran, Tejarat Khareji Iran and Farhangian. Currently, the bank's capital amounts to Rls 40000 bn and is one of the largest commercial banks in the Islamic Republic of Iran, ranking among the top 1000 banks of the world.
