Beehive Builders is a partnership. Torffield's partner is Kathleen Atkins, who provides financing and marketing. Torffield has engaged a local professional builder who has 20 years of building upscale homes. Torffield is an artist whose work consistently won a top prize in the Black Bear Film Festival contest. Now she used her artistic talent to design userfriendly homes. She estimates that the home she is now building off Silver Lake Road in Dingmans Ferry will use half the annual cost for electric or oil to heat each year and use less oil. The first home using Rastra ® was built in the U.S.A. in Arizona in 1991. Most of the homes using Rastra ® in the U.S.A. are in the West and Southwest. Torffield wants to change that. She sees that the many benefits of homes using Rastra ® are ideally suited the Poconos and the east coast and wants to be a pioneer. Although the finished homes she is designing will not be cheap, owners can recover the investment in many ways, not just energy savings annual. ...
