Bedales School Information

Bedales is a co-educational day and boarding school where academic rigour sits alongside creativity, individuality and community. One of the UK’s leading independent schools for ages 3-18, Bedales is situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park near Petersfield, Hampshire. The School comprises Bedales Pre-prep (ages 3–8), Bedales Prep (ages 8–13) and Bedales Senior (ages 13–18). Founded in 1893 as an alternative to authoritarian regimes typical of late-Victorian public schools, Bedales maintains its innovative traditions and student-centred approach to education, fostering inquiry, creativity and community. Through its holistic, intellectually challenging curriculum, Bedales is inspiring a new generation of critical thinkers, leaders and lifelong learners. The School’s founding principle ‘work of each for weal of all’, centred on authentic working relationships, develops excellence in the individual whilst appreciating their central role in shaping society on every level.
