Beama Visuals Information

BEAMA Visuals is an independent production company based out of Calgary, Canada. It began in 2008 as a series of experiments in visual performance between founders Dillon Butz and Darren Caulfield at local electronic music events. They saw a growing demand for visual and environmental design that matched the originality of the sound, as well as the opportunity to push the envelope with the creative application of new media technologies. Purchasing BEAMA's first projectors, they began working regularly at local shows and music festivals, then in 2010, they were invited to manage the video production for Shambhala Music Festival's iconic Pagoda Stage. Working on a world-class stage like Pagoda quickly raised BEAMA'S profile, attracting curiosity, accolades, and the interest of an animator named Ben Leonard. He joined the team in 2011 as co-owner and inaugural head of animation, revolutionizing BEAMA'S approach to production design with the newfound ability to accurately create productions in 3D space and build audio-driven, animated content tailored specifically to the design. Soon after, in early 2012, BEAMA launched its first North America wide touring production with EDM producer Excision's video-mapped X-Vision stage. BEAMA Visuals has steadily grown since then, employing more talent, stocking more powerful equipment, and spreading into LED video technology. Our work has been seen at some of the biggest music events in the world, and productions like Excision's Executioner (2013-2015) and Paradox (2016) tours have been gaining us praise from audience and industry alike. We've also expanded our scope to include an array of services beyond production for live music. We have collaborated with clients to create public art installations, theatrical video backdrops, dynamic displays for advertising, custom video content, and staging for trade shows and corporate meetings. No matter the application, we approach each project with intelligence, inventiveness, and a passion for creating incredible experiences.
