It all started IN 1983... Wato opened the first Beach Without Sand (BWS) store at North Avalon in 1983 as the surf culture on the Northern Beaches was booming. He has had Kong by his side for pretty much the entire time. The shops are still run today by Wato & Kong, with the help of Sam & Bec (Watos kids) and Tommy. Read about our full history here.
