Beach Architects aim to design architecture that is clever, appropriate, brave and optimistic, and to use the principals of ESD and the objectives of each client, to create significant form. Construction materials and methods relate to each site context. Dune house is a driftwood grey shipwreck beached behind the sand dune, whereas Lighthouse b is a concrete outlook anchored tenaciously into the rock, and summit house is a hinterland estate and a big timber country bolt-hole, safe from mobile phone coverage. Beach Architects specialise in; private beach houses; medium density holiday developments that have the goal to enliven in the visitor the feeling of the happy holiday lifestyle; and hinterland estates that are an escape from the hectic city life. Beach Architects are local, and have a very good working relationship with the Byron Shire Council (and other local Councils), local consultants, and an understanding of the many planning constraints and opportunities that can affect each property. Beach Architects often act as a local co-ordinator for those clients who live interstate or abroad, and have much experience communicating effectively with remote clients. Dan Connolly has been a registered architect in NSW since 2003. Dan worked as part of Troppo Architects from 1999-2002, and then in 2003 initiated Troppo Architects Blue in Byron Bay. In 2006, Dan formed Beach Architects and has since worked in association with Troppo Architects on specific projects*.
