BBA Liminal Information

BBA Liminal is the evolution of Breinstorm Brand Architects, a strategic brand and communications practice founded in Johannesburg in 2000. Liminal means the in-between. Anthropologists call it "betwixt and between": the stretch in any rite of passage after the old role has fallen away and before the new one has arrived. Our clients know the feeling. A founder steps aside. A funding cycle turns, or the political landscape shifts. Work that once felt certain has to be reimagined. It's our job to know the way through. We work with museums, festivals, awards, foundations, utility authorities and climate funds, and with companies carrying the same kind of weight of purpose. We do brand and communications strategy, positioning and narrative, and the award-winning design and platforms that carry it. We convene multi-stakeholder partnerships and hold them together. We build the internal capacity that lets an organisation carry the work itself. And we make introductions between people who ought to have met years ago. There are branding and design agencies, cultural and policy advisories, and development communications firms. Our work spans all three and thrives in the gaps between them. Twenty-six years has taught us where we're most useful. Don't call us for a logo with nothing underneath it, or a campaign that answers to nothing after this quarter.
