About the Bautex Wall System: The Bautex Wall System provides many benefits in a single, integrated assembly. Among its advantages are increased energy efficiency (continuous insulation, thermal mass, air tightness); FEMA hurricane and tornado rated storm protection in winds up to 160 mph (250 mph with masonry veneer finishes); a four-hour fire rating; and sound reduction. The Bautex Wall System is easily cut and formed, which provides greater design flexibility for the construction of arches, windows and other desirable architectural features. On average, an installed Bautex wall weighs 33 percent less than one built with standard concrete masonry unit (CMU) block and uses 50 percent less concrete than traditional insulating concrete form (ICF) walls.
