The American Medical Association (AMA) is the largest and most influential organization representing the voices of hundreds of thousands of physicians, residents and medical students across the United States. Founded in 1847, the AMA works to advance the interests of physicians and patients by advocating for policies that improve access to quality care, strengthen the patient-physician relationship, promote physician autonomy and wellbeing, advance science and technology, and uphold the high medical ethics of the profession.
