The Kenosha Unified School District was created in 1967. The District includes the City of Kenosha, Village of Pleasant Prairie, and Town and Village of Somers. While it is called the Kenosha Unified School District, it is actually a common school district and holds an annual meeting of electors. Challenger School is an independent, non-profit private school. We operate 27 campuses in California, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, and Texas, with more than 10,000 preschool to 8th grade students enrolled annually. Challenger emphasizes the bedrock of knowledge: reading, composition, math, and history. Mundelein High School is a comprehensive one‐building district housing grades 9‐12. The district covers a 36‐square mile area and serves the needs of 2,033 students from Mundelein and surrounding communities. Mundelein is located on Chicago’s North Shore, approximately 40 miles north of Chicago. Neighboring high schools include Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Stevenson, Lake Zurich and Grayslake. Beginning with the 2016‐2017 school year, the high school has a new building addition which includes two STEM labs along with Project Lead the Way instruction and a Business Incubator Lab. The school has a strong academic program with more than 87 percent of graduates continuing their education at postsecondary institutions. The school offers a wide range of challenging courses, including honors and advanced placement courses that are open to all interested students. The school also offers special education services, ELL and bilingual classes. Qualified students may also take courses at the nearby College of Lake County as well as at the Lake County High School’s Technology Campus. The school offers more than 40 extracurricular programs, clubs and activities as well as a comprehensive athletic program of 31 varsity sports for men and women. MHS has a highly educated staff who exhibit a commitment to quality education. The school has earned numerous national awards. Recent graduates attend such prestigious schools as Yale, Harvard, Duke, Cornell, Boston College, University of Chicago, Stanford, UC Berkley, the military academies and many others.
