Barossa & Light Regional Development Board (BLD) is a partnership between The Barossa Council, Light Regional Council, the State Government of South Australia and regional industry. Our responsibility is clear. We are charged with the job of facilitating economic growth and activity for the Barossa & Light region of SA. We're a community and business driven organisation. Our independent Board comprises Local Government, Business, Industry and Community representatives, selected and appointed through a process of public nomination. Today, BLD is included in the decision-making process for development in our region, along with our Council and State Government partners. BLD consults widely with community and business leaders to identify and prioritise issues that have the potential to add value to and stimulate the continued economic and social growth of our community. In order to lead and inform locally identified solutions for employment and skills issues, BLD, key partners and the Workforce Development Network (WDN) operates under the following parameters:· To build strategic alliances to ensure coordinated responses that effectively utilise resources and identify employment and skills needs· Develop and increase community capacity through building local leadership and expertise· Utilise relevant data and local knowledge to predict regional workforce demands and growth· Foster employment attraction and retention opportunities through education and training· The partnership will work collectively and collaboratively to achieve sustainable outcomes for the Barossa and Light region· Ensure that consultation and communication is broad and inclusive and that key stakeholders have a range of opportunities for involvement and representation· Communicate regional outcomes to key stakeholders in a variety of formats· Promote and celebrate regional successesThrough BLD, the development of our region is firmly in the hands of local communities. With BLD as its vehicle, Local & State Governments can allocate assistance and funds through a representative, well-structured and recognised community consultative organisation. BLD has aligned its programs and activities into three service areas consistent with the strategic targets:BLD BUSINESS has a focus on short-term or immediate assistance for local businesses that require advice and counsel in such areas as starting up a business, financial management, market analysis, growth strategies, employee planning, long-term business planning, distribution and many others. BLD Business strives to advance collaboration and cooperation within regional industry. BLD INFRASTRUCTURE seeks to address issues of regional sustainability, economic growth, community development, area policy development, lobbying and advocacy, research/development and industry issues that affect businesses, community organisations and residents in the Barossa & Light region. BLD WORKFORCE helps businesses and regional industries plan for HR needs, address skilled migration initiatives, employment action, and workforce training and education needs in the Barossa & Light region.
