Barking and Dagenham Information

The Barking and Dagenham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is made up of all the GP Practices in Barking and Dagenham. Our board includes elected GPs, a senior Nurse, Lay members, senior NHS managers, a Practice Manager and a secondary care Consultant. Public Health and Social Services will also be represented. From April 1 2013, we are responsible for planning and buying healthcare on behalf of our local population taking over this role from the old PCT. As Barking and Dagenham Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the GPs are responsible for commissioning NHS services ranging from cancer care to mental health, hospital operations to prescriptions covering the borough's population of 164,000 people. Barking and Dagenham CCG chair Dr Waseem Mohi said:"We are delighted that we have passed such a rigorous authorisation process. "This result is thanks to the hard work and support of everyone involved in the development of our organisation - local GPs, staff, patients, residents, the council and other partner organisations." Assessors from NHS England, the body responsible for contracting and authorising the GP commissioning groups, looked at the CCG's policies, visited staff and interviewed its leaders. NHS England also assessed the work the CCG is doing, and plans to do in the future with stakeholders and patients in the borough.
