Coolmore Stud is owned by John Magnier, originally from Co. Cork. Operating since the 1850’s the Magnier family has a long established tradition in the South of Ireland for standing top class National Hunt stallions (like 14-time Champion sire Deep Run). It continues to this day in Cork with top class stallions such as Flemensfirth, Milan, Getaway, Westerner, Yeats etc. Coolmore’s headquarters in Fethard, Co. Tipperary was later developed in the 1970’s in conjunction with John Magnier’s late father in law, the outstanding horse trainer Vincent O' Brien, and Robert Sangster with the objective of creating a world class stallion operation.
Coolmore Stud is a global leader in thoroughbred horse racing and breeding, standing the top stallions in Europe, the USA and Australia. Horses of the calibre of Wootton Bassett, American Pharoah, Fastnet Rock, Uncle Mo and No Nay Never are among the most sought after stallions in the global bloodstock business.
There are currently over 50 stallions under Coolmore management worldwide with the major Irish operation located in Fethard, County Tipperary and its two branches - Ashford Stud, which operates as Coolmore America and is based near Versailles in Kentucky, USA, and Coolmore Australia, which is based near Jerry's Plains in the Hunter Valley in New South Wales. Coolmore stallions have sired the winners of over 100 Group races worldwide every year since 1996.

Lindsay Park Euroa is arguably the best thoroughbred training facility in the southern hemisphere. David Hayes has trained 78 Group 1 winners including the Melbourne Cup (Jeune 1994), Cox Plate (Better Loosen Up 1990, Fields of Omagh 2006), Caulfield Cup (Fraar 1993, Tawqeet 2006) and Golden Slipper (Miss Finland 2006).
Arrowfield Stud was established in 1985 under the visionary and innovative leadership of John Messara.
In 1989 Arrowfield made one of the single most important purchases in Australian bloodstock history when it selected and secured a majority interest in Danehill, who proved to be a global breed-shaping influence, and the sire of 89 Group 1 winners – more than any other stallion in history.
After relocating in 1996 to the stud’s present location near Scone, Arrowfield enjoyed success with the outstanding sire Snippets before launching the careers of three champion sire sons of Danehill: Danzero, Flying Spur (retired from stud duties in 2012) and the exceptional champion sire, sale-ring sensation and sire of sires Redoute’s Choice. Snitzel is Australia's top sire, while Not A Single Doubt is a top five sire - both are sons of Redoute's Choice.
Group 1 winners added to Arrowfield's honour roll since 1 August 2014 are Heavenly Blue, Hot Snitzel, Majmu, Mustaaqeem, Rafeef, Secret Agenda, Stay With Me, Stepitup, Sweet Idea, Wandjina & Whisky Baron (all bred solely or in partnership by Arrowfield); sale graduates Abbey Marie, Contentment, Howard Be Thy Name & Invader; and the Teeley Assets home-breds Lankan Rupee & Miracles of Life, both foaled & raised at Arrowfield.
Forty-three Arrowfield yearlings have sold for $1 million or more at auction since 2001, most recently seven lots at the 2017 Inglis Easter Sale, headed by the sale-topping $2.5 million Redoute's Choice-Secluded colt. He joins Musket ($2.5 million, G2 winner), Master of Design ($2.1 million, G1 winner) and Estee ($2.1 million, stakeswinner & Group 1-placed) as the four most expensive Arrowfield yearlings sold at auction.
Arrowfield topped the vendor lists by aggregate at the 2016 & 2017 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sales and the 2015, 2016 & 2017 Inglis Easter Sales, and in 2017 achieved total yearling sales of more than $35 million.
Arrowfield also enjoys its share of racetrack success. The Stud's famous Black & Yellow Diamonds with Yellow Cap have been carried by the likes of champion Australian 2YO & champion 3YO filly Miss Finland, her Group 1-winning daughter Stay With Me, Group 1 winner Alverta, Group-winning colts Beneteau, Panzer Division, Scissor Kick & Spill The Beans and, in 2017, by the Group-winning juvenile filly Teaspoon. In addition, Charge Forward, Snitzel, All American, Animal Kingdom & Dundeel all won Group 1 races after their purchase for stud duties by Arrowfield.
