Banyan Creative was founded by Sam Casey in 2011. But our story goes back to a life changing trip to Sri Lanka in 2004. Every morning Sam would wake up early and climb up the massive trunks of a banyan tree outside the hotel. The branches were massive, and had many deep roots and it continued to grow in every direction. One week after our departure a massive tsunami came and wiped out much of the coast of Sri Lanka. This tragedy would be in world headlines for months and years to come. Needless to say our lives were never the same. After receiving photos from our contacts in country we saw that buildings, cars, and debris were strewn all across the landscape left in the wake of the tsunami. The devastation was beyond imaginable. However glancing at the background of these images, what was noticed was that many of the Banyan Trees were still intact. Its widespread deep roots, multiple trunks, and dominant arching branches protected themselves from the force of the waves. Banyan Trees weren't dependent on on any one trunk or channel. Their diversification was what allowed them to thrive in the the harshest of conditions and allowed them to survive the biggest storms. They stay balanced even against the harshest forces of nature. After spending several years in sales and account management for larger national agencies, Sam saw a gap between Charlotte internet marketing services being sold, and what business owners and marketing executives actually needed. There was an opportunity to service small businesses, non-profits and entreprenuers with high level internet marketing in Charlotte, using lean and mean strategy and software tools to reach new customers. Instead of pitching services, Sam and the Banyan team focus on meeting businesses where they are today. And starting with the resources they currently have.
