Bangkok 1899 is a cultural & civic hub in the heart of Bangkok where art, ecology, design, urbanism and social innovation connect. Founded by Creative Migration in 2016 and opening in 2019 in the historic Nang Loeng district, it is a third place where people meet, build trust and make things happen. With guidance from the Royal Society of Arts, Creative Migration designed Bangkok 1899 as a space where cultural and climate diplomacy take root through long-term relationships and community process. The Rockefeller Foundation provided early backing. Ford Philanthropy came in to support the property restoration. Creative Migration invited Saks Rouypirom to bring the café vision to life, which led to him founding Na Projects, a social impact initiative for refugees and underserved youth. Together, Creative Migration and Na Projects established the hub as it exists today. In 2024, Creative Migration advocated for Bangkok 1899 and the Ford Resource and Engagement Center next door to become one unified campus. The Ford Community Center opened in March 2026 and now hosts eight organizations. Bangkok 1899 hosts international artist residencies, exhibitions, workshops and performances connecting Thai artists and communities with global cultural dialogue. It is the home of Creatives for Climate Action Thailand (CCAT) and served as the CCAT Global Hub during Bangkok Climate Action Week 2025. Supported by Ford Philanthropy and ECCA Family Foundation.
