The Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) is the sole entity authorized to issue currency in Peru. Constitutionally independent of the government, BCRP has the key role of conducting monetary policy with the objective to maintain monetary stability. Governed by a Board of Directors in accordance with the provisions of its Organic Law, the Central Bank is responsible for regulating currency and credit, managing international reserves, and reporting on national finances.
