Baltimore Green Space Information

Baltimore Green Space is Baltimore's environmental land trust. We promote vibrant neighborhoods and a healthy environment through land preservation, research, and community advocacy. Across Baltimore City, residents have turned vacant lots into gardens, gathering places, and thriving urban forest. Most of that land has no legal protection and can be sold and built on at any time. As a nonprofit land trust, we acquire city-owned parcels and hold them permanently in the community's name — while the neighbors who created these spaces continue to lead them. Since 2007 we've protected 62+ acres across 19 sites, and we provide technical assistance, liability coverage, and stewardship support to more than a hundred community-managed open spaces and forest patches citywide. Our vision is to be a leader and partner in ensuring that communities' open spaces and forest patches are considered priority assets in the growth and redevelopment of Baltimore.
