Together with JSI’s Guitar Shop and Carriage House Violins, we form New England’s largest stringed instrument company, here to offer our customers—beginners through concert artists—the very best in bowed and fretted instruments sales and service. Our instruments are acquired from a variety of local and international sources, including the major auction houses, collectors, private sale, and consignment.

In fact, the violin family of instruments is not only our specialty, it is all we do. Our workshop is staffed with outstanding luthiers who bring extensive knowledge of their professional training; both in instrument making and repair, & as performers and teachers of music. Our mission at Vermont Violins is to foster music in our community and the communities of our customers. Vermont Violins and the Burlington Violin Shop are owned in partnership by the husband-wife team of Kathy Reilly and Oren Kronick. They have together run the shop since its conception in 1994. The pair met at Oberlin College where Kathy pursued a viola performance degree and Oren studied history in the college. While Kathy pursued a Masters in Botany at the University of Vermont’s Field Naturalist Program and Oren worked for entrepreneurial businesses in Vermont, the two merged their passions in the building of a violin shop in Central Vermont. Teaching, Performing, and running a violin shop created a life rich in musical rewards as they devoted themselves to supporting a vibrant musical community in the state of Kathy’s childhood.
