Bacchanal is Columbia university’s largest music event organisation. An entirely student run group , we organise and execute the annual spring concert, as well as smaller on and off campus music programming throughout the year. We exist solely to foster and enhance Columbia spirit and community, though our most popular event is the annual spring concert. Founded in 1964 as “Spring Weekend,” Bacchanal is an annual celebration of the end of a successful school year. This festival is attended by 3-4 k people (aged 18-22) and brings some of the biggest names in the music industry to perform. Past performers include Kanye West, The chainsmokers,SOPHIE, Tierra Whack and Rina Sawayama. Our most recent lineup consisted of : the headliner Rick Ross , with support from Amaarae, Sarah Kinsley and Maude Latour. Aside from the concert , we promote student musicians and performers through our annual battle of the bands , and more recent spotlight series on up and coming talent within the Columbia community. Our organization has a designated design and press team responsible for setting the aesthetic and theme for shows, as well as covering all our events throughout the year. We are so proud of the work we have been able to share thus far. Watch this space for updates on our upcoming panel series with industry insiders and coverage of this years show. Keep your eyes out for info on our next project, BACCH-STAGE, a talk show-esque series where we invite artists to campus for an interview and short performance.
