Fondée en 1876 à partir d'une fabrique de broyeurs et de presses à granulés, la société Amandus Kahl est devenu en 1991 le groupe Kahl composé de quatre partenaires: Kahl (industrie de l'alimentation animale + petfood, industrie du recyclage, industrie chimique, industrie agroalimentaire et sucrière), Neuhaus Neotec (entrepôts et installations de torréfaction de café), Schule (industrie du riz et des céréales, légumineuses et oléagineux, traitement hydrothermique, industrie des épices et du thé), Heinen Freezing (systèmes de refroidissement, congélation, fermentation, pasteurisation pour l'industrie agroalimentaire). Le groupe Kahl emploie aujourd'hui 900 salariés de par le monde, avec une usine centrale à Reinbek près de Hambourg.
