AWANAY Information

AWANAY is a rug design studio based in Argentina. We offer personalized and unique rugs, handmade with 100% pure sheep wool in northern Argentina. Our philosophy and style is relaxed, simple, natural, organic and yet elegant. We are inspired by the majestic vast lands of Argentina and we try to internationalise this legacy by giving it a modern touch. We work with design studios and showrooms around the world, specially in the U.S and Canada. The project started in 2012 by a duo of mother and daughter- Silvia and Rocio Noya. Our social mission has always been a priority. We work to empower rural communities of expert weavers who live in inaccessible areas of Argentina. We want them to have the opportunity of working and living sustainably in their lands, doing what they know best: hand-weaving. Today AWANAY works with 100 families of sheep owners, spinners and weavers in El Monte and La Puna. We work following thoroughly sustainable & fair trade principles. The unicity of our rugs is found in the fact that there are no mills involved in the production of our products. Each step in the creation of our rugs is community made. The weavers work from their houses, surrounded by nature, just as it’s been for centuries. We also make pillows, throws, ruanas and ponchos! All handmade only with 100% pure sheep and llama wool.
