Awakenings is a 501(c)3 nonprofit making visible the artistic expression of survivors of sexual violence. We help survivors heal through year-round programming, and we create an audience of advocates and allies to support survivor work. Our Gallery: Awakenings runs a beautiful gallery space that showcases rotating exhibits featuring art made by survivors of sexual violence. Our staff is trained to provide a safe, compassionate, and healing-informed professional arts experience to survivors from the moment they submit their work, to the moment they take it off the walls. Awakened Voices: Our literary magazine, Awakened Voices, provides an opportunity for survivors, secondary survivors, and allies to heal through writing. Submissions come from all over the country and world, and our staff provides supportive and healing feedback to writers. Performances: Awakenings offers a wide range of performance-based programming that spans dance, theater, and music. Our gallery space is used for staff-facilitated workshops, rehearsals, and final performances.
